Air India Express is a subsidiary of Air India and flies mostly from the Indian state of Kerala.It operates services to the Middle East and Southeast Asia and has about 100 flights per week. The airline is owned by Air India Charters Limited, a subsidiary of Air India Limited.The airline began operations on 29 April 2005 with a flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Abu Dhabi. Delivery of the first aircraft for Air India Express took place on 22 February 2005 when the airline leased a new production Boeing 737-86Q from Boullioun Aviation Services. As of February 2014 the airlines had a 20 plane fleet with an average age of 6.3 years. Their fleet included the Boeing 737-800.
The airline is headquartered in the Mumbai. In December 2012 the Air India director board ratified the proposal to move the headquarters to Kochi in January 2013. K.C. Venugopal, the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, said that the move would occur in phases, beginning with the opening of the Kochi office on 1 January (New Year's Day).

Each passenger (excluding infants) is allowed, depending on the destination, some baggage free of charge, subject to the regulations of the airline. Checked baggage in excess of free allowance is subject to excess baggage charge and space availability on the aircraft. (Unless otherwise specified). Infants are entitled to 10 kilos baggage free of charge.
You are not entitled to transport Baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance. If, in our absolute discretion, Baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance is accepted for carriage, you shall pay a charge for the carriage of that excess Baggage at the prevailing rates (these rates may be changed or varied at any time and from time to time and will be available from us upon request and are available at our check-in counters).This will be carried subject to availability of space and aircraft permissible weight limitations.
Each passenger (excluding infants) is allowed to carry one small piece of hand luggage (unchecked baggage), which must not exceed 7 kilos. If your hand luggage exceeds the stated limits it will have to be checked in. In the event that your total checked-in baggage exceeds the free allowance, an excess baggage charge will be incurred. It is recommended that all valuable articles are only carried in your hand luggage.
