Style / Ambiance: Swathed in the sumptuous décor of the Orient, the Golden Dragon at the Taj Mahal Palace has retained its iconic status as one of India’s most innovative restaurants.
The Buddhist altar at the entrance bestows good luck, health, and prosperity upon arrival, encouraging diners to relax in atmospheric rooms resplendent with exquisite Chinese artifacts. The perfect location for an intimate dining experience, The Golden Dragon can provide private rooms catering for up to 12 guests.
Golden Dragon has an illustrious 40-year history of serving fine Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine in Mumbai since 1973. Under talented Chef Shi Xi Lin and Chef Wen Dong, the Golden Dragon features an elaborate a la carte menu, provincial specialties and a Sunday Dim Sum brunch buffet containing extensive varieties of Dim Sum. The restaurant is particularly noted for its live kitchen plating delicious steamed seafood, Peking Duck, and authentic Beggar's Chicken which is prepared over 24 hours of slow marinating and cooking.
The Golden Dragon restaurant recently reopened in a lighter, brighter and more contemporary avatar. A royal Golden Dragon, with a soothing water feature welcomes guests into the restaurant. Rice paper and etched glasswork features throughout the decor of the space. From old favourites like golden-fried prawns and konjee crispy lamb to the recently introduced designer dim sums—everything is worth a try here. The focal point of the restaurant is the live kitchen which aims to enhance the dining experience, as customers can watch the chefs in action. A fitting finale to the meal would be the green apple tiramisu or one of the many exotic teas.
