This 12-day tour includes all highlights from the Golden Triangle, such as UNESCO-listed Taj Mahal and the Jantar Mantar observatory in Jaipur with a visit to the adventurous and breezy hill stations. Day 1 Arrival in Delhi
The Golden Mountain Tour begins by arriving in Delhi. A car will be arranged to transfer to the hotel to check in. Spend the night at the hotel and prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.
Day 2 Next stop Haridwar
After enjoying a tasty morning breakfast, a car ride to Haridwar will be arranged, taking about 5 - 6 hours. On arrival check in to the hotel. In the evening, enjoy a visit to Har-ki-Pauri to view the holy Ganges Aarti. This aarti is a beautiful ceremony in which deeyas (the oil lamps) are offered to God. Later have a good night’s rest back at the hotel.
Day 3 Haridwar sightseeing and Rishikesh trip
Chandi Devi Temple
Begin this morning with a warm hotel breakfast and prepare for today’s sightseeing. Enjoy a city tour of Haridwar, starting by visiting the beautiful temples: Mansha Temple, Chandi Temple Devi, Daksh Mandir and Pawan Dham. Next awaits a visit to the town Rishikesh, taking about 45 minutes in a car ride. On arrival, visit Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Bharat Mandir and Triveni Ghat. Laxman Jhula is a famous landmark of Rishikesh; it is a bridge built over the Ganges River. The bridge represents the path where it is said that Lakshmana crossed the Ganges River on jute ropes.
In the evening, enjoy an inspiring Ganga ceremony at Parmath Niketan. Parmarth Niketan is an ashram which can represent a spiritual location where Hindus perform different kinds of rites such as yoga or religious studies. After finishing in Rishikesh, drive back to Haridwar and enjoy a good night’s sleep at the hotel.
Day 4 Agra awaits
Shri Krishna Janmasthan
After an energizing sleep, wake up to a warm morning breakfast and next pack up to leave for Agra. This car ride will take around 8-9 hours and en-route will be the opportunity to visit Mathura - a sacred town and the birth place of Lord Krishna. Later continue the drive to Agra and on arrival check in at a hotel. Enjoy an overnight stay while tomorrow’s adventure awaits.
Day 5 Agra love story - Next Jaipur
The Taj Mahal
Get filled up with a hotel breakfast and get ready for the highlight of the day, a visit to the mesmerizing Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal was built between the years of 1632-1653 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan lost his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal in 1631 and made the vow to honour her after her death, which he did by building this stunning mausoleum where both he and Mumtaz Mahal are laid to rest next to each other today.
Next up, a visit will be made to Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which can be described a as walled splendid city built in 1566. Study the progress of Mughal structural design closely, from red stones to white Marbles.
Now that the Agra-chapter can be closed, the journey continues to the Pink City. A car ride will be arranged, taking about 5 hours to reach Jaipur. On arrival, check in to the hotel and enjoy some rest.
Day 6 Jaipur attractions
The City Place
Regain energy with a warm morning breakfast and prepare for the first site of the day: the Amber Fort. Amber was the ancient capital of the state and is today an abandoned fort complex on a hilltop. Get the opportunity to explore this one Rajasthan hill fort, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the unique and beautiful architecture it brings. Enjoy the many attractive palaces, halls and temples inside such as Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Jai Mandir, Ganesh Pol, and many more.
Later explore the city with a tour of the City Palace & Museum, Jantar Mantar – the Observatory, and Hawa Mahal. Also get the chance to try some bargaining skills at the exciting bazaars of Jaipur. Finish the day with a good night’s sleep back at the hotel.
Day 7 Delhi treats
A well-needed breakfast awaits and later prepare for the next stop: Delhi. Enjoy a relaxing car ride taking about 5 hours before reaching Delhi and on arrival check in at the hotel. Rest of the day is free for shopping or exploring at own, get a chance to experience many sights of interest. Perhaps a visit to Chandni Chowk, the oldest and busiest streets in Delhi. Later get a good night’s rest at the hotel to be energized for tomorrow’s journey.
Day 8 Srinagar journey awaits
Today awaits the journey to beautiful city of Srinagar and starting with a morning breakfast at the hotel, get prepared to transfer to the Delhi airport and connect to the Srinagar-flight.
On arrival, transfer and check in to a deluxe houseboat. In the evening, relax and enjoy a shikara boat ride in the famous Dal Lake. A shikara is a sort of wooden boat, similar to Italian gondolas. This unique and calm boat ride will bring joy and surely be a highlight of this tour. Later enjoy a peaceful dinner and get a good night’s sleep.
Day 9 Sonnmarg excursion
Gateway of Ladakh
After an appetizing breakfast, get ready for a full day excursion to Sonmarg - at 2690 metres it is rightly known as “The Meadow of Gold”. It is also known as “Gateway of Ladakh”. In this little town, truly enjoy a peaceful state of mind and witnessing the calm nature of snowy mountains. Stress, noise and rushing is something far known in Sonmarg.
In the evening, drive back to Srinagar and have a filling dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 10 Gulmarg trip - Srinagar sights
After a morning breakfast at the hotel drive to Gulmarg, known as “Meadow of Flowers”. Situated at an altitude of 2730 meters, enjoy a full day at own leisure. Get the opportunity to take the peaceful walks on the lush green meadows of flowers and witness the backdrop of the snow-capped mountains. Enjoy a pony ride or Gondola ride (rope way) to Khillanmarg at own expense.
Later drive back to Srinagar and en-route visit Nishat Garden known as “Garden of pleasure”. Built in the 16th century (1633) by Mughal Emperor Asif Khan, enjoy the blissful sights and majestic mountain background.
Also visit the Shalimar Garden known as “Garden of love” built in the 16th century (1619) by Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his beloved wife Noor Jehan or Mehr-un-Nissa. Later visit the Shankaracharya temple which is located on top of a hill where a view of whole Srinagar City can be enjoyed.
Finish this day with a tasty dinner and enjoy an overnight stay with a good rest.
Day 11 Last stop: Delhi
After a warm hotel breakfast, have car arranged to Srinagar airport and connect to a flight for Delhi. On arrival, transfer to the hotel and check. Enjoy this day freely, perhaps to try some authentic Indian street food or getting those last souvenirs for family and friends. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 12 Delhi sites and departure
Enjoy a tasty morning breakfast and prepare for a city tour of Old and New Delhi. The tour starts with a visit to Raj Ghat, an important memorial location for Mahatma Gandhi, which is also the spot of his cremation. Next on visit the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the years of 1644-1656, it is a stunning and impressive architectural structure with many areas to explore, such as one of the minarets, the different terraces or the huge courtyard.
Later visit Qutub Minar, the tallest stone tower in India reaching a height of 74 metres. The original foundation of the structure is believed to have been laid down around 1200 CE by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak, the founder of the Delhi Sultanate. A visit will also be made to the India Gate, a war memorial dedicated to the soldier’s lives lost in World War I, as well as the Parliament House which is the government’s headquarters. Lastly enjoy a visit to the Lotus Temple – the only Bahai temple.
In the evening, transfer to Delhi airport to connect for onward destination.
