The magic memories tour will take you on a 6 day long journal through northern Indian cities of Delhi and Agra. Witness the British legacy in the government building of Delhi, the confluence of various religions in many temples, mosques, and cathedrals, and the finest architecture from the Mogul empire, including the seventh wonder of the word - Taj Mahal. This tour is ideal for the entire family, history lovers, or couples.
Day 1 Arrival in Delhi
Begin the Magic Memories tour by arriving in New Delhi and checking in to the hotel. Enjoy this day freely and gain energy for the upcoming eventful days.
Day 2 Exploring Delhi
Enjoy an energizing breakfast and head off to explore Delhi. Begin with a visit to the India Gate, a war memorial built during 1921-1931 to honor the 82.000 soldiers of the British Indian Army that died during the First World War. A visit will also be made to the Rashtrapati Bhavan nearby, “The presidential residence”, which is the official home of the Indian president.
Continue on to the beautiful Lodhi Gardens, a park which houses the tombs of Mohammed Shah, Sikander Lodi, Sheesh Gumbad and Bara Gumbad, and later on to Humayun’s tomb. Humayun’s tomb is the tomb of Mughal emperor Humayun and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Later visit the second tallest minaret in India, the Qutub Minar. This stunning architectural structure reaches 74 meters and its foundation was laid down in 1200. Also visit Purana Qila, one of the oldest forts in Delhi.
Enjoy a tasty dinner at a local Indian restaurant and later get a good night’s sleep back at the hotel.
Day 3 Religious Sites
Wake up refreshed and enjoy an appetizing breakfast at the hotel. Later get ready to enjoy the sightseeing of today, where the theme is “religious sites” such as temples, churches and gurudwaras. Begin with a visit to the beautiful Lotus Temple, which is a Bahá’í House of Worship built in 1986 and constructed in the shape of a Lotus-flower. Next on visit the Akshardham Temple, also known as Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, which is a Hindu-temple known for its unique architectural structure and artistic carvings. This temple is something which one must see with their own eyes, the beautiful artistic and cultural influences in the temple design will guarantee a unique experience.
Next on visit the Laxminarayan Temple (also known as “Birla Mandir”) which was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1933-1939. This temple is a popular tourist destination and an important site for Hindu-believers, especially during festivals such as Janmashtami and Diwali. Finish the day with a visit to the Sacret Heart Cathedral, one of the oldest Roman Catholic churches in Delhi, built in 1929.
Later enjoy a local dinner at an Indian restaurant, truly get the chance to experience the flavors of Indian cuisine. Get back to hotel and enjoy a good night’s rest.
Day 4 Monuments of Delhi
After a filling breakfast, prepare for today’s adventures to visit some of the famous monuments of Delhi. Begin with a tour of the Red Fort which was home to the Mughal emperor for almost 200 years. The Red Fort was constructed by the emperor Shah Jahan, known for also building the famous Taj Mahal in memory of his late wife, a site which will be visited later on in this tour. Next on visit the important Raj Ghat, a memorial for Mahatma Gandhi and the site of his cremation.
Further on, a visit to one of India’s largest mosque, Jama Masjid, will be arranged. This amazing structure was also commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1644-1656. Take a minute to enjoy this stunning architectural structure which can fit more than 25.000 people. Next, take a walk in Delhi’s oldest and busiest market, Chandni Chowk and enjoy a bargaining hunt for some Indian handicrafts, exotic spices or other souvenirs to take home to loved ones.
After this joyful day, enjoy a dinner with local Indian food and later get rest for tomorrow’s journey to Agra.
Day 5 The city of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites – Agra
The Taj Mahal
Get energized with a morning breakfast and prepare for an exciting 5 hour car ride to the city of Agra. On the way, enjoy the sights of Indian towns and villages. On arrival, check in to the hotel and afterwards begin the tour of the mesmerizing Taj Mahal. Built during 1632-1653, it was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal. This stunning architectural structure houses both the tombs of Shah Jahan and his wife. Declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, this mausoleum attracts many millions of visitors each year, waiting to hear the love story and devotion that Shah Jahan had to his wife.
Next on, visit the Agra Fort where today’s structure was built by the Mughal emperors as early as the 15th century. The foundation of the fort is believed to be dating back all the way to the 11th century, and represents a rich history of India. This structure can be described as a walled city and when entering, enjoy the unique architectural design which has many artistic influences.
After today’s sightseeing, enjoy a dinner back at the hotel and get rest for tomorrow’s departure.
Day 6 Departure for onward destination
Flight to onward destination
Revive all energy with a hearty breakfast and later relax in a 5 hour car ride back to Delhi. On arrival, get transferred to the international airport to connect to onward destination.
