The Waters of India starts by bringing you to Kochi, famous for being one of the major port cities of India and being the centre for spice trading for many centuries. You will travel on to the hill station of Munnar where the name of the town is believed to origin from the meaning of "three rivers". Next you will be taken to Thekkady, where you will get the opportunity to enjoy a night on a houseboat, before you travel on to Kovalam, a famous area for their beaches covered with coconut trees. Nearby is the city of Trivandrum, known for their beautiful beaches and nature spots. Here you will be able to relax and enjoy the final parts of your trip, to truly create memories for life.
Day 1 Arrival in Kochi
St. Francis Church
Start the tour by arriving in magical Kochi by flight and get transferred from the airport to a hotel to check in. After some rest, enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour of Kochi’s splendid sights starting with a visit to the Paradesi Synagogue. Built by Spanish-speaking Jews, it is the oldest active synagogue in India and was constructed in 1567 under the protection of Raja. This synagogue shares a common wall with the next attraction of this tour, the Mattancherry Palace. Continue on to a visit to this palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, which was built in 1555. As a gift from the Portuguese to the Raja of Kochin, this palace today contains many important historical pieces, Hindu temple art and portraits of the Rajas of Kochi.
Next on, a visit to the ancient St. Francis Church awaits. It is the first European church to be built in India and construction started in 1503 by the Portuguese settlers Alphonso Albuqurque and his command. The construction began by rising the famous Fort Kochin, and within the fort the church was constructed. Also enjoy a leisurely walk through the area of the Fort Kochin and witness the popular and impressive structures of Chinese fishing nets located nearby.
Later on, head back to the hotel and enjoy a good night’s rest.
Day 2 Transfer to Munnar
Begin this beautiful morning with an energizing breakfast at the hotel and then prepare to continue the journey on to Munnar. Taking around 4.5 hours, get some rest during this car ride and on arrival check in to a hotel. Enjoy the afternoon freely to explore the sights, such as the beautiful tea plantations that cover the nearby areas or the peaceful nature. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 Sightseeing of Munnar
Enjoy this calm morning with a tasty breakfast at the hotel and then prepare for an exciting full-day tour of Munnar. Start by enjoying the nature of Munnar by visiting the stunning tea plantations located in the area. Continue on to visit the Eravikulam National Park, known for having the largest population of the Nilgiri Tahr among their 25 other species of mammals. Later visit the impressive Mattupetty Dam, the Indo Swiss Dairy Farm and the beautiful Kundala Lake.
Later enjoy a good night’s sleep back at the hotel.
Day 4 Thekkady nature awaits
This morning begins with a flavorful breakfast at the hotel followed by travelling on to the next destination of this tour, Thekkady (also known as Periyar). Taking about 4 hours to reach by car, on arrival check in to the hotel. Unwind and in the evening enjoy a boat ride in the Lake Periyar where sights of wildlife can be witnessed, such as the rare but exciting sight of wild elephants coming down to the lake to drink water or play. Later enjoy an overnight back at the hotel and regain all energy.
Day 5 Kumarakom up next
Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple
Start off this day with a fresh morning breakfast and prepare to transfer to the next destination of this tour: Kumarakom. Taking around 4 hours to reach, on arrival check in to a hotel and enjoy the rest of the freely to explore the sights nearby. Get a good night’s sleep back at the resort to prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.
Day 6 Cruise to Alleppey
Enjoy the morning with a hearty breakfast at the hotel and prepare for today’s exciting event, an overnight cruise to Alleppey. Check out from the hotel and board the boat at 12.00. Lunch will be enjoyed on board followed by enjoying the sights during this cruise. Witness the fascinating life of the villages located here in the Kerala Backwaters such as fisherman fishing, children playing in the water, chores performed by the villagers, mobile shops in tiny canoes, harvesting of paddy during harvest season and other people travelling through the waters to get to their destination. Enjoy the overnight on board.
Day 7 Sights on the way to Kovalam
Enjoy a morning breakfast on board followed by arriving at Alleppey Jetty this morning and continue on to the next destination of this tour, Kovalam. On the way, visit the ancient Padmanabha Swamy Temple, a temple known as “The Temple of Gold”. Let the experience of visiting this temple speak for itself, and later continue on to a visit at the Museum and Art Gallery at Trivandrum. On arrival in Kovalam, check in to a hotel and enjoy an overnight stay.
Day 8 Leisure at Kovalam Beach

Enjoy this morning with a refreshing morning breakfast and have the rest of the day free to spend time and relax at the Kovalam Beach. Later spend the night and get a good night’s rest.
Day 9 Departure day
This last day begins with an energizing breakfast and then transferring to the Trivandrum Airport to continue to onward destination with memories of the Waters of India for life.
